Cat Strat

We have just initiated a blog - a father and daughter tandem showcasing our own musings and pondering as caught on camera.

As for a starter, here's a black and white photo entitled Cat Strat. The setting is an old piece of furniture circa 1950's made out of Kamagong wood, with its seat woven with strips of rattan. Inclined on it is a Fender Stratocaster 1968 model with a cat posing beside it. What's amusing about this photo is that the intended object is the guitar posed by the window when this cat (his name is Ming-Ming) suddenly popped out of the window and sat beside it.

What's with guitars that makes it a multi-million industry? Being one of the most popular instruments, a thousand design has been made and still continue to come out with new ones to date. It all comes in different size and and shapes, to the most simple design to the most ridiculous. If  you have grown up with this instrument, like I did  way back during the seventies, there is that profound connection to it once you have it in your hands. Recalling that era, despite my naivete with regards to its technical aspect, an aesthetic link binds the instrument and the musician creating an images of one's being both mental and physical. From an image of one's favorite guitar icon to simply dishing out melodies pleasant to ones ear. It's like the guitar personifies the guitarist and vice versa, intertwined with reflections and contemplations. Be it of a subtle boredom drawn out of that acoustic or angst blaring out on the amplifier.
